Letter from President François Hollande to President Barack Obama

Paris, December 14, 2012

Mr. President,

I was horrified to learn of today’s shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

In these tragic circumstances, I want to express my deep shock and sorrow in the face of this act of unspeakable violence at a primary school that left so many victims.

In this painful moment for the United States, I offer you my heartfelt condolences, both personally and on behalf of the French people.

I would be most grateful to you for kindly conveying my sympathy to the families of the victims of this cruel tragedy.

Sincerely,

François Hollande, President of France
