Since the current sanitary conditions forbid the gathering and celebration of the French National Day, the Embassy of France in the United States and its ten General Consulates General including ours have decided to launch a digital initiative for an unprecedented online celebration of our yearly national holiday Bastille Day.

We’ll be going LIVE soon! Connect with us on Bastille Day TV at 5:00PM (EST) for an exclusive virtual ceremony. All welcome!

On July 14th at 17h (EST) (14h PST), log in on this page or on our Facebook account to attend the Ambassador’s address to the French community, video messages from our Deputy Consul Nathalie Soirat as well as speeches from our special guests - including French and U.S. representatives and astronaut Thomas Pesquet, who will speak from Houston.

In our Consular jurisdiction

Nathalie Soirat, Deputy Consul General, and several representatives of the French and American community will address you. Chef of the French Residence David Fricaud will show you step by step how to make a chocolate macaroon. Last but not least, Hélène Demeestère, Historian, will share with us many unusual stories about how the French celebrate Bastille Day in Los Angeles since 1880!

Whether you are in Southern California, Southern Nevada, Arizona, Colorado or New Mexico, share a picture of your "Bastille Day" by tagging our Instagram or Facebook and feel freeto order your meals or other delicacies from French restaurants, wineries, bakeries and groceries. The picture that best represents the spirit of July 14th will be rewarded with a Gourmet French food basket prepared by the Chef of the French Residence in Los Angeles.

Children ages 6 to 12 are invited to participate in a "Draw your July 14th" drawing contest organized by the French Embassy in the U.S.. Drawings, along with the name and age of the young artist, should be sent to 14juillet@ambafrance-us.org before July 12th. Prizes will be awarded! We will also display on the front of the French Residence, the drawings already received from the students of the Lycée Français de Los Angeles as well as the Lycée Français de San Diego.
