Antarctica Legacy Crossing World’s Record
)) COPELAND AND ERIC McNAIR-LANDRY COMPLETE A TRIPLE WORLD RECORD ON ANTARCTICA CENTENNIA ((
On January 23rd, 2012, at 10:30 pm, defying an icey cold wind, redoubtable fields of cracks, paralysing storms, the fear of heights and numerous chilblains, the team of the Antarctica Legacy Crossing, members beeing Sébastien Copeland and Eric McNair-Landry, have accomplished an ultimate « historic » record: the transcontinental crossing of Antarctica in three months, opening a new path of 880km which connects the POI with the geographical South Pole.
Pulled by their kites on the icey undulations, this adventurous team has accomplished a second record: the accession to the POI without any exterior assistance nor motorization - The POI is the most remote point from all Antarctic coasts and is probably the most isolated place of the planet.
Sébastien Copeland and Eric McNair-Landry roamed a route of 4100 kilometers in 81 days, achieving the perilous performance of the world’s biggest distance crossed by help of kites.
