The Mediterranean City: A Conference on Climate Change Adaptation


A conference on climate change adaptation in Mediterranean urban areas will take place in Los Angeles at the Sheraton Downtown Hotel from June 24-28.

The Mediterranean City: A Conference on Climate Change Adaptation will initiate an ongoing collaboration of cities working together to adapt to the current and future impacts of climate change. It will bring together experts from a variety of different fields, including business, policy and public health. The conference is promoting experts from different parts of the world to come together to form reasonable solutions, as an example to cities that can also work together across their regional and national boundaries.

The conference will address the integrated issues common to Mediterranean cities with workgroups gathered around the following six interrelated topics:

-  Water: Resilient Water Management Strategies for a Changing Climate

-  Energy: Transitioning to an Energy Efficient and Low Carbon Future

-  Biodiversity and Open Space: Building an Ecological City

-  The Built Environment: Designing Healthier Communities

-  Public Health: Preparing People for Their Future

-  Governance: Rethinking Boundaries
