Campus France - "French Happy Hour"
Campus France USA and the Cultural Services of the Consulate General of France in Los Angeles organized the second edition of the French Happy Hour on Friday November 30.
The French Happy Hour, a project which began in Los Angeles in May 2012, aims to gather both students who have lived in France and students who would like to go there to study. This event allows them to share and exchange their own experiences.
While the first edition attracted 20 students, over 30 students made it to the Café Chez Marie, where the following French Happy Hour took place.
Mr. Antonin Baudry, cultural counsellor at the Embassy of France in Washington DC, and Ms. Charlotte Eyerman, director of French Regional American Museum Exchange (FRAME) and 19th-century French art specialist, honored us with their presence. They both insisted on the significance of academic exchanges between France and the United States.
Mr. Dominic Thomas, director of the UCLA department of French Studies, and Ms. Béatrice Mousli-Bennett, director of the Francophone Research and Resource Center at USC also attended the party.
The French Happy Hour gathers students specializing in various disciplines. However, they all have in common a passion for France. The majority of student come from Los Angeles—UCLA and USC— however we encourage students from all institutions to participate. The varying academic background of the students and their diversity always ensures that the event will be a great success.
This very successful event will happen again soon (spring 2013). We look forward to seeing you again!
