Shoot the Book! 2015

The 4th edition of « Shoot the Book! » will take place in Los Angeles on November 9th 2015 during the American Film Market (AFM). The event represents an opportunity for professionals in the audiovisual industry to discover French literature and its potential as screen adaptation for film, television and other digital formats.

Born at the Cannes film festival in 2014, presented again in 2015 and exported to the Toronto International Film Festival, Shoot the Book! will be held in Los Angeles for its 4th edition.

At the initiative of the French Mission for Culture and Higher Education and in partnership with the Société Civile des Editeurs de Langue Française (SCELF), the Centre Français d’exploitation du droit de Copie (CFC) and the Institut Français (IF), 9 French publishing houses will be represented by 5 persons during the AFM.

On November 9th 2015, from 10:00 AM to 12:20 PM, at the Loews in Santa Monica, the rights directors from the Mediatoon Group (Dargaud et Dupuis), the Delcourt Group (Delcourt et Soleil), Denoël, Fayard and the Gallimard Group (Gallimard, Gallimard Jeunesse et Futuropolis) will present their works, preselected in their catalogue, to movie professionals.

Pitch and Q&A sessions will be moderated by Steven Gaydos, Vice-President and Executive Editor at Variety.

The books, chosen for their potential as screen adaptation for film, television and other digital formats, have been selected by an outstanding jury of American professionals, headed by Howard Rodman (President, Writer’s Guild of America West).

From graphic novels to science-fiction, crime, memoir, drama and comedy, the selection will give an overview of the vitality of the French publishing world and will introduce the best of today’s French and francophone literature to the American filmmaking community in order to nourish creative and business links between France and the United States.
