Mustang to represent France at the 2016 Oscars! [fr]

The announcement of the film’s nomination was made live from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills onThursday, January 14, by Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and the actor Chris Pine.


Mustang, the film directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven and produced by Charles Gillibert from CG Cinéma, has been selected as one of 5 films vying for the 2016 Oscar for Best Foreign-Language Film. The four other contenders for the award are Son of Saul by László Nemes (Hungary), Theeb by Naji Abu Nowar (Jordan), A War by Tobias Lindholm (Denmark), and Embrace of the Serpent by Ciro Guerra (Colombia).

The French short film Ave Maria by Basil Khalil, produced by Éric Dupont and Suha Arraf from Incognito Films, has also been nominated in the Best Short Film (Live Action) category.

The ceremony for the Oscars 2016 will take place on February 28 in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
