The following resources are made available to teachers of French in the US by the Cultural Services or by our partners.

Facebook page
Our Facebook page offers news from French programs in schools of the American Southwest, resources, suggestions for pedagogic activities and other tools for teachers, as well as job offers, calls for grant applications, and opportunities for professional development. Follow us to stay in touch!

Our newsletters
The Cultural Services of the French Consulate in Los Angeles publish the monthly newsletter LA Culture, which gathers information on all the French-related events in the Southwest.

Another newsletter is especially targeted at educators (French Language in the West) and offers resources and other relevant information for teachers of French in Southern California, Southern Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona.

The American Association of Teachers of French
The AATF is an association of teachers of French in the US. The Southern California Chapter organizes pedagogic workshops and other initiatives for French teachers (please see the section below for more information.).

You can contact an AATF chapter close to you to participate in their events, in Los Angeles (www, Facebook), or in San Diego (www, Facebook). Please visit the AATF website for more information.

Pedagogic Workshops

The USC Francophone Research and Resource Center offers free training workshops, open to all teachers of French.

The American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) also offers pedagogic workshops. Please get in touch with the closest chapter in order to participate to the events in your region.

Training workshops are also offered at Occidental College, in the Los Angeles area.

School Contests

Contests organized by the AATF
The American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) organizes the yearly Grand Concours for classes of French in American schools. Other events are also undertaken during the National French Week, in November each year. The Southern California Chapter organizes a video contest, a poetry contest, and a film critique contest at the occasion of the ColCoa Film Festival. The LabCitoyen program
The LabCitoyen program has been established by the Institut Français to promote French language as a tool for engaging in a global debate about contemporary issues of our societies.

Pedagogic Resources

The USC Francophone Research and Resource Center website
The USC Francophone Research and Resource Center has a list of pedagogic resources for teachers of French. The page Promote French also presents advocacy material that can be used to support French language teaching and encourage students to learn a foreign language.

French Culture, the web portal of the French Embassy’s Cultural Services
This portal is your source of information about teacher professional development, school partnerships with French schools, the TAPIF assistantship program) as well as initiatives you can join with your classes and a list of pedagogic resources.

The AATF website
The American Association of Teachers of French offers resources to promote French language, pedagogic materials and online activities.

The DELF/DALF certification also makes a useful tool to promote French language with your students and their parents. Please visit the CIEP website for more information.
