Applying for a passport - By appointment only

  • By appointment only :please arrive on time to your scheduled appointment, latecomers will not be admitted.
  • 1 appointment = 1 procedure = 1 passport and/or NIC (national identity card) = 1 person
  • No accompanying person, except for minors or visitors with disabilities (1 accompanying person)
  • All visitors must present themselves with a protective mask and their own pen.
  • Chancery fees must be paid by credit card only.
  • Priority is given to expired or soon-to-expire passports.
  • Please make sure your application is complete. If not, you will have to make another appointment.

You must provide proof of your French nationality

Where to apply?

Regardless of where you live, you can apply for a passport in any city in France, or at any French consulate, as long as you are able to pick up your document from the site where you originally applied. In the United States, 9 Consulates general can receive your applications: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco and Washington. Please note that honorary consuls are not authorized to receive passport applications.

In case of an emergency, the Consulate is the authority to issue emergency travel documents (emergency passports and laissez-passer) and to proceed to signature legalizations. For these procedures, please send an email to info.los-angeles-fslt@diplomatie.gouv.fr indicating the reason for the emergency. These requests will be treated on a case by case basis.
