Highlighting the paradox between the universal values promoted by the Olympic Games and the persistence of racial discrimination throughout their history, this lecture aims to foster dialogue on inclusivity in global sports through historical insights. The lecture will be held in French and will be followed by a Q&A in English.
Dr. Mourlane is an Associate Professor in Modern History at the Aix-Marseille University and a leading scholar in the history of migration and sports, has co-edited numerous works, including Une histoire mondiale de l’olympisme (2023) and Olympisme, Une histoire du monde (2024). He also co-curated a major exhibition on the history of Olympism for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
